What is Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy in British Columbia has been a regulated health care profession since 1946 and is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of B.C.


The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body for the treatment and prevention of disfunction, injury, pain and physical disorders. Registered Massage Therapists undergo extensive training in the treatment and prevention of injury, pain and physical disorders though the manual manipulation of structures of the body such as ligaments, tendons, connective tissue, muscles, blood vessels, organs and other soft tissues.

What should I except from my first appointment?

On your first visit, you will have completed a confidential health history form. Your RMT will go over your health history with you to determine your treatment needs and goals. There will be an assessment preformed before the hands on portion of the massage. After the massage there will be home care provided, if necessary. 
Please fill out all intake forms prior to appointment if possible .

Do I need a doctors referral?

A referral from your doctor is not required to receive massage therapy. Some private insurance companies do require a medical referral, it is best to check with your insurance provider prior to your first visit.

How many treatments will I need?

Every condition is individually evaluated, based on the person and severity of their condition and patient activity expectations. Your RMT will advise you of an appropriate treatment plan during your initial assessment.

Does extended health benefits cover my treatment?

Although everyone's health and group plans are different, most plans will cover a percentage. Talk to your health plan provider for more specific details.

Can you direct bill my insurance company?

We can direct bill certain insurance companies with a few exceptions, please contact us for specific information about your insurer.

Can I cancel my appointment?

We ask for 48 hours notice for any changes or cancellations. Your appointment time has been reserved for you.


Please note that all no shows and missed appointments will be charged 100% of the booking.

Any changes or cancellations within 24 business hours will be charged 100% of the booking.
